Tree-Planting Ceremony

Dominican Sisters of Peace Hold Tree-Planting Ceremony at Rosaryville Spirit Life Center
As Congregation Celebrates Tenth Anniversary

Ponchatoula, Louisiana – Rosaryville Spirit Life Center, a (ecological, health care, education, retreat) ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Peace will hold a tree planting ceremony on Wednesday, April 24th, 4:00 pm at Rosaryville Spirit Life Center. The ceremonial planting is being held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, a congregation of vowed Catholic women with ministries in 22 states and 2 countries.

The tree planting is the first in a year-long series of celebrations to mark the religious congregation’s first decade of ministry.

Images of trees planted by the water of Christ’s love with deep, strong roots, are numerous in the Bible, and gave inspiration to this element of the Congregation’s celebration.

“The theme for our Tenth Anniversary celebration is ‘Rooted in the Word. Preaching Peace,’ ” explained Sister Pat Twohill, the Congregation’s Prioress. “What better way to celebrate our own deep roots in scripture, our commitment to God’s creation, and our hope in the future than by planting a beautiful tree at Rosaryville Spirit Life Center.”

Suzette Callais, Director will be presiding over the event, where a tree will be planted. A commemorative plaque will also be installed.

Community members are invited to join the staff of the Rosaryville Spirit Life Center and the Dominican Sisters of Peace for the planting, a brief program, refreshments, and a prayer for the future.
